Te Anau Lakefront Walk - Control Gates
A beautiful lakeside walk that takes you to the Lake te Anau Control Gates and the start of the famous Kepler Track. You walk past the Visitor Information Centre and through the grounds of Te Anau Wildlife Centre - this is the ideal setting to learn about some of Fiordland's wildlife. The centre offers the chance to see NZ native birds including the colourful and rare flightless Takahe. There is no entry fee but donations are appreciated. The path continues alongside the lake and is completely flat.

The Chasm
A quick stretch your legs walk on the way to Milford Sound. A 15 minute return walk over the Cleddau River offer dramatic views of a series of powerful waterfalls.

Piopiotahi Foreshore Walk - Milford Sound
This easy loop from the main visitor car park at Milford Sound offers some of the best views of Mitre Peak. Enjoy a break at the cafe and watch the boats launch into the sound. Don't forget your sandfly repellent!

Mavora Lakes Park
Beautiful lakes, open tussock, grasslands, and beech forest make this a very popular destination in the summer. Many activities are available here including fishing, hiking, biking, or just relaxing and enjoying the scenery. There are options to hike longer distances along the Mavora - Greenstone Walkway, to the Kiwi Burn hut or just a short loop around South Mavora Lake.

Ivon Wilson Park - Te Anau
An attractively landscaped 35 hectare park. Lots of easy walking and bike trails, picnic / bbq spots and toilets. In the centre is Lake Henry - this small lake has a stock of brown trout and has been developed as a children's fishery.

Routeburn Track - Key Summit
Key Summit off the Routeburn Track makes for a great walk on a clear day. Start off on the Routeburn Track on the road to Milford Sound. The track will split and a signpost will point you up to Key Summit which offers incredible views over the Humboldt and Darran Mountains. Allow for 3 hours return.
