More on Serious Fun Riversurfing - Queenstown
River surfing is a fun-filled, adrenalin-pumping adventure that is suitable for children from aged 8 through to adults. This is an adventure activity and participants will require lots of energy and enthusiasm!
No experience is necessary (apart from ability to swim) - we start in a calm pool, giving you a thorough safety and technique briefing. You then get to practice moving around before we head off downriver.
The river can move quite swiftly but don't worry - the guides will always be close by and you'll stop often to rest up and give yourself a chance to enjoy the incredible surroundings.
Depending on the day the rapids are graded 2 - 3 (Grade 3 is waves and white water, but no problems passing through).
Once completed you get the chance to go back and do it all again - this is a great opportunity as second time round you know what's coming and can 'splash out' and get a bit more adventurous!
Duration: 4 hours (1½ to 2½ hours on river) Departures: from town centre or your accommodation. Bring a towel and swimming costume - wetsuits and all other gear provided. Twice daily, 9am & 2pm. October to May. Depart times October, April and May could vary.
SAFETY
We have a 100% safety record since starting our trips in 1989. We put on extra guides iif there are children under 12 on the trip. Participants are subject to trip leader's discretion and must be able to swim. We reserve the right to cancel or amend any trip due to river, road, weather and safety conditions. Guides’ instructions must be adhered to at all times.
Restrictions:
• Minimum age is 12 years old.
• Moderate level of fitness and water confidence required.
• Everyone must be able to swim.
