More on Fiordland, NEW ZEALAND - The great walking tracks of Fiordland National Park MILFORD TRACK The Milford Track (53.5 kilometres) is in the heart of spectacular
Fiordland National Park, part of the Te Wāhipounamu – South West New
Zealand World Heritage Area and is administered by DOC on behalf of the
New Zealand public. You can walk the track independently or as part of a guided group. Located in the southwest of the South Island, the track starts at the
head of Lake Te Anau and finishes at Milford Sound.
The track is hiked in four days / 3 nights although day one is only 1 1/2 hours walk. There is one 7 hour day and two 6 hour days.
KEPLER TRACK
The Kepler Track, a 60 kilometre circular track, traverses through the
spectacular scenery in Fiordland National Park. It is part of the
Te-Wāhipounamu – South West New Zealand World Heritage Area and is
administered by DOC on behalf of the New Zealand public. The track can be walked in 3 or 4 days. Some good, steady climbs are involved on days one and two.
