Punakaiki Canoes is a small, locally owned and operated company committed to offering you a safe and pleasurable experience in a unique area of New Zealand.

Kayaking on the Pororari is a favourite activity for first time paddlers and families.
The water is shallow in many places which means even the most nervous kayaker feels comfortable. The flow of the river isn't too strong which makes it easy to paddle yourself with a child onboard.
We have a range of kayaks to suit your family's needs, and this includes doubles as well as singles.
 
We provide lifejackets, wetsuits, booties and waterproof containers for cameras or lunch. All you need to bring is sun hat, sunglasses, camera, swimsuit and towel and warm clothes.

How to Find Us
We are located on the main road 1km north of the Pancake Rocks and blowholes at Punakaiki on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. Our base is conveniently situated beside the river at the northern end of the village.
