About Stewart Island
Stewart Island ‘the land of the glowing skies’ is home to Rakiura
World Heritage Park and the land of many New Zealand Bird species such
as Kiwi, Weka, Kaka, Tui some of which can be found flying directly in
front of the YHA Hostel.
Top activities to do while backpacking in Stewart Island:

- Take part in some of the rugged walks around the island, with
245km of walking tracks, Stewart Island is a popular venue for
Trampers.
- Take a boat trip around the Bays and to Ulva Island, a
