Rabbiters Cottage - Kimbell, South Canterbury 
A historic (1884) 2 bedroom rabbiters cottage, situated in the tiny village of Kimbell, on the route between Christchurch and Mount Cook. A country hideaway, with the Southern Alps on its doorstep, Rabbiters Cottage is a few minutes walk from the local pub, serving food, and 8 minutes drive from the township of Fairlie. The cottage is a blend of modern appliances and rustic furniture. Lots of outdoor space for the kids, with outdoor toys and gumboots for your use, and two bedrooms, one with Queen bed, and the other can be set up as two large singles or one King bed. A selection of children's games and books are kept in the cottage. Located right on the lakefront with unobstructed views of this amazing, glacier-fed lake and the mountains beyond. YHA Lake Tekapo’s large lounge area directly overlooks the lake and is a comfortable and cosy retreat. In winter relax in front of the roaring log fire with the friendly hostel cat on your lap or take turns making music on the piano or guitar. The accommodation available at the Lake Tekapo hostel is family-friendly (a cot is available), accessible for disabled and all double room accommodation has tea and coffee making facilities. The large kitchen is very well-equipped including a rice cooker, panini toaster and herbs, spices, sugar, tea and coffee - all provided free.
