Most YMCA centres have a child minding facility to care for babies to pre-schoolers and they also run school holidays programmes for 5 to 15 year olds. Or, if you just want a break from the kids while you do an hour or two’s shopping, they have an out of centre’s user’s fee.. Hours vary so check the website for details.
These public kindergartens do not charge fees but they ask that families contribute to the running costs by donating approximately $3 – $5 a session. Children can be enrolled after two years of age and visits are welcome if you want to drop in and check the kindergarten out. All kindergarten teachers are fully trained and registered. Session times vary but are generally two and a half to three hours long, three to five sessions a week.
