Kelly Tarlton’s is a magical world where Antarctica and the Underwater World combine to give you a chance to see penguins, sharks and even piranha! The Antarctic Encounter features a life-sized replica of Captain’s Scott’s hut, plus a chance to see penguins from a snowcat. Travelling on the moving walkway in Underwater World, you are face to face with sharks, stingrays and hundreds of other amazing sea creatures. You can watch the sharks, stingrays and penguins being fed by hand.. There is also an interactive room where children can learn more about the marine world in a fun environment. A refreshment kiosk provides snacks, lunches or coffee. Wheelchair and disabled access is provided throughout. Kelly Tarlton’s also hosts birthday parties (10 or more people required) and sleepovers (minimum 30 people)

Snowplanet is New Zealand's first and only all-year indoor snow resort where the temperature inside the snow dome is -5°C! Snowplanet’s giant snowhall features 50 cm of real powder snow, three lifts, a terrain park for snowboarders and a separate learner area or children can simply enjoy playing in the snow. The Tropical Butterfly House features over 700 free flying exotic butterflies, as well as tropical fish, bird and lizards. The combo price also includes entrance to Buttermilk Farm, a petting zoo where children can come up close to favourite farmyard animals like miniature Welsh ponies, kunekune pigs, alpacas and cockatoos. Or climb aboard the Red Admiral Express, the miniature train, to ride around Butterfly Creek. Entry to the playground is free and the Papillion bar and cafe provides breakfast, lunch and a kid’s menu at reasonable prices.

OPEN DECEMBER - MAY This amazing maze is set in a 7 hectare paddock with 8 km of paths lots of puzzles to solve on the way. The maze takes about 45 minutes to complete (if you don’t get lost) and the paths are flat so are suitable for pushchairs. There is a picnic area at the entrance to the maze with farmyard activities and entertainment for the whole family like walking planks, wobble boards and a mini maze. There are BBQs and picnic tables available (book in advance) and a coffee machine. An added attraction is the exciting Vortex tunnel and 3D experience. In previous years maze themes have been dinosaurs and ancient Egypt – check the website to find out this year’s theme. School holidays promise fun and frights in the maze with the School of Scares. These haunted shows are especially for families and children aged 10 to 15 years. Under 12s should be accompanied by a parent. For older kids, (16 and up) explore the maze after dark (byo torch) and enjoy being scared by the CornEvil interactive theatre. The Amazing Maze 'n Maize in Auckland is part of Spookers Attractions, which are based at the old Kingseat Hospital, Karaka. Please arrive at Spookers, which is signposted from the Papakura off ramp and purchase your tickets at Spookers main ticket office. The Amazing Maze is open every day from 10am, with the last entry at 5pm. Season closes on April 26th.
